Becoming a member

Benefits
TEC is a resource for your HR department which can save your firm valuable time, avoid costly mistakes and create piece-of-mind knowing you have the best available legal counsel is at your disposal.

Bi-Monthly Newsletter:
Members receive The Counselor, which contains up-to-date employment information and articles by guest authors. Articles address areas of employment matters as well as related areas of interest such as insurance coverage, property lease issues, and liability concerns for businesses.

Legislative Watch:
TEC monitors legislation at the state and federal levels in order to provide employers with timely input about changes in the law which may affect business, and which businesses may wish to address.

Educational Seminars:
TEC sponsors educational seminars on pertinent employment matters, including an annual employment law update and other periodic seminars.

Consultation Visit:
Members can request an on-site review of federal and state employment laws and regulations and review their compliance in these areas annually.

Document/Information Retrieval Service:
Available to regular and extended service members are copies of state and federal legislation, governmental regulation and required postings, as well as copies of court decisions.

Reduced Legal Fees:
The Council retains the services of CohenDurrett, LLP, a law firm focusing on the needs of business with specialization in labor & employment and commercial real estate law.

Members receive a discounted rate on legal fees for all legal matters handled which may include:

  • Free telephone advice & consultation on routine labor and employment law matters
  • Federal and state court representation in wrongful discharge and/or discrimination cases
  • Review of employer policies & procedures
  • In-house training & seminars
  • Preparation of personnel handbooks, OSHA programs and Department of Transportation programs including Injury & Illness Prevention, Workplace Security and Hazard Communication programs
  • Representation before: State Labor Commissioner; Cal OSHA; Department of Fair Employment & Housing; Equal Employment Opportunity Commission; National Labor Relations Board; Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board; U.S. Department of Labor; Workers' Compensation Appeals Board.

Membership

Associate Membership: $800.00 per year:

  • Monthly Newsletter
  • Reduced legal fees for employment and labor law services by participating attorneys with
    CohenDurrett, LLP
  • Reduced registration fees for council sponsored seminars
Regular Membership $1250.00 per year:
Includes all services listed above, plus
  • Telephone advice and consultation on routine employment matters without additional charge
  • Use of the employment and labor law library during business hours
  • Informational sources and document retrieval
  • Consultation visit to member's workplace
  • No charge for attendance at all council seminars

Payment option:

A $100 application fee is due with when registering as first time member. Payments can be set up annually, semi-annually or quarterly.
