An Employer’s
Legal Resource
As an Employer are you puzzled by employment issues?
Ever wonder how often you should update your employee handbook or
how to discipline and reduce your chances of being sued by an employee?
Perhaps you’ve wondered about probationary periods and how
they affect your “at will” status? Wish you had someone
to call with a quick question or run something by legal counsel?
If you do, you are not alone. That’s why we’ve developed
a special program designed to assist employers with legal matters
through The Employers’ Council.
In a rapidly changing workplace there are many issues
an employer must consider, including employment laws which can be
complicated and continuously changing. Not staying current in these
laws can be a costly mistake.
The goal of The Employers’ Council
to educate companies and provided legal updates to help prevent
or mitigate potential lawsuits by employees. The Employers’
Council is designed to help supplement and assist your Human Resource
Department and efforts. Council members receive bi-monthly newsletters,
receive notices when there are changes in employment laws, and have
access to educational seminars and a myriad of other services.
Help
with Understanding Employment Law
Employment law encompasses all areas of the employer/employee
relationship. Employers need The Employers’ Council
to help navigate through the thousands of Federal and state statutes,
administrative regulations, and judicial decisions relating to employment
law. Many employment laws (e.g., wage and hour regulations and various
leaves acts) can be confusing, even to veteran Human Resource managers.
The Employers’ Council is here to help its members understand
what law affects them as circumstances arise in the workplace.
Employment law includes issues such as wages and hours,
employee benefits, occupational safety and health, worker’s
compensation, and unemployment compensation. Some of the more cutting-edge
issues involved in employment law are privacy rights in the workplace,
wrongful discharge, restrictive covenants, and new causes of action
and remedies for discrimination.
Members of The Employers’ Council have
access to employment attorneys. Depending on the level of membership
members can call, without charge, to run by a situation or to ask
questions. A complete listing of benefits can be found on the Member’s
Benefits page. No company is too small or too large to benefit from
the services of The Employers’ Council.
